Respiratory symptoms
Persistent cough, throat irritation, increased asthma symptoms, difficulty breathing, or frequent sinus infections can indicate mold exposure. These symptoms often improve when away from the contaminated environment.
Allergic reactions
Unexplained sneezing, runny nose, watery or itchy eyes, skin rashes, or headaches that seem related to specific areas of your property may suggest mold contamination requiring assessment.
Environmental indicators
Musty or earthy odors, visible mold growth on surfaces, water stains or discoloration, high humidity or condensation problems, and recent water damage all increase the likelihood of mold contamination. Properties affected by flooding are at particularly high risk for rapid mold development.
When to seek help
If multiple family members experience symptoms, if symptoms persist despite other treatments, or if you discover visible mold covering areas larger than 10 square feet, mold remediation is recommended. Properties that have experienced flooding should be professionally assessed even if mold isn't immediately visible.
